FieldJournal
What you saw, where, and when — your own field notebook.
Nature observation journal. No account, no ads, offline.
Why FieldJournal exists
Naturalists and curious walkers want a simple, private place to record what they saw and where. FieldJournal is that notebook — without accounts, ads, or unreliable cloud identification. It never claims a species is safe to eat.
What FieldJournal does
- Record observations: plants, mushrooms, insects, birds, animals, or general notes
- Capture date, time, and place (type it in, or use optional GPS)
- Attach photos, notes, and tags to every observation
- Search and filter your journal
- Export your observations
- Optional Google Drive backup (free, your own Drive)
- Fully offline — works in the field with no signal
Privacy and local storage
FieldJournal stores all observations locally. No account needed. No tracking. Optional Drive sync and GPS are off until you turn them on.
Optional Google services
- + Google Drive (optional): back up and restore your journal via your own Drive account
- + Location (optional): tag an observation with GPS coordinates — manual location always works
All Google services are optional. FieldJournal works completely without them.
Affiliate links disclosure
FieldJournal may include clearly-labelled contextual links to field guides, notebooks, magnifiers, macro lenses, and outdoor gear. Links are optional and never shown inside your observations.
