Why ShelfKept exists
Goodreads is owned by Amazon. StoryGraph has sync issues. Most offline book apps lack lending tracking and indie-bookstore support. ShelfKept is local-first, privacy-friendly, and aligned with indie booksellers.
What ShelfKept does
- Add books by barcode scan, ISBN, or title search
- Track status: Want to Read, Currently Reading, Finished, or Abandoned
- Never lose a borrowed book — lending tracker with friend names and dates
- Rate books 1–5 stars and write reading notes
- Reading stats: books this year, favourite months, average ratings
- Export your library to CSV or JSON at any time
- Bookshop.org links by default — Amazon is opt-in only
- Optional Google Drive backup (free, your own Drive)

ShelfKept stores all data on your device. No account required. No tracking. Optional Drive sync uses your own Google Drive — LokiSec sees nothing.

All Google services are optional. ShelfKept works completely without them.
