Why WaterPoints exists
FarOut and Guthook nailed water-source data but only as trail-specific paid map packs locked to their ecosystem. There is no general offline tool to log the sources you find and plan how much water to carry to the next reliable one.
What WaterPoints does
- Log water sources: type, reliability, last-flowing date, treat-required, notes
- Optional one-shot GPS capture for a source — manual coords always work
- Carry calculator: consumption rate and segment distance/time give litres to carry
- Filter by reliable-only or source type; sort by distance or last-flowing recency
- Import GPX waypoints; export to CSV, JSON, or GPX
- Distance between sources via on-device Haversine math — no network
- Fully offline — no account, no subscription, not tied to any trail's map

WaterPoints keeps every source and plan on your device. No account, no tracking, no crowdsource feed. Location is captured only when you explicitly tap to capture coordinates.

WaterPoints may later include a separate, clearly-labelled gear card with links to filters, bladders, and purification tablets — never inside the carry result. Links may be absent.
